After returning to Houston, Texas from Dubai, UAE, my husband, Mike and I looked forward to a quieter, serene lifestyle, far from the bustle of metropolitan living. In 2010, we purchased land and built our home ten miles from Mountain View, Arkansas.
In 2013, we had the opportunity to purchase an additional 22 acres across from our home, which included a building that resembled an English Carriage House. We knew immediately this building had charm and qualities that we wanted to share with others. Our dream of opening a place where Quilters and other Crafters could go to relax and let their imagination show through their creations took root.
We began by completely remodeling the existing structure, adding a thousand square feet of living space with a wrap around deck. We landscaped the structure, planted Maple Trees, and added a gravel parking lot for guests. We have planted a Lavender field adjacent to the terraced hillside and plan to hold Lavender Festivals in the fall. Plans are to add a walking trail and an outdoor fire-pit with seating, leading to the creek.
The retreat, nestled in the Ozark Mountains, is ten miles from the small town of Mountain View, Arkansas, known for their musical entertainment, Ozark Folk Center, Blanchard Springs Caverns, annual Festivals, and Rainbow trout fishing on the White River. We are on the southern edge of the Sylamore National Forest and just a few miles east of the famous White River. This also places us 18 miles from Melbourne, 42 miles from Mountain Home, 40 miles from Batesville, 90 miles from Harrison, 2 ½ hours from Little Rock, 3 ½ hours from Branson, Missouri, 3 ¼ hours from Memphis, TN, and 5 hours from Tulsa, Oklahoma. We couldn’t have picked a better place for a retreat. Please contact us for a map and driving directions to the retreat.
